The Lid Rescue Project

Circular Peninsula’s Lid Rescue Project was created to empower our local communities to take action, reduce waste, and reimagine what plastic waste can become—one rescued plastic lid at a time.

Did you know that plastic lids are too small and light, causing them to fall through recycling machinery and end up in landfill or our environment?

We know that people want to do the right thing, but don’t know how or where to recycle small items like lids. Our hyper-local solution meets people where they are and gives them an easy way to make an impact—at schools, workplaces and local community centres.

Collected lids are turned into new products, and help to demonstrate the power of the circular economy in action. If you would like to sign up as a collection point, please let us know.

Circular Case Studies

Our partnership with Commonfolk is multi-faceted and mutually beneficial. In addition to collecting plastic waste from their Mornington and Frankston locations, we run part of our operations at their coffee roastery. This helps us further reduce emissions created by transporting plastic waste for processing. A win-win!

Support their love of coffee and their dedication to creating a sustainable coffee industry by visiting one of their sites and donating to their charity, The Cup That Counts.

Commonfolk

Sages Cottage Farm dates back to the 1850s and has heritage-protected buildings and grounds. A feature of this incredible property is Sages Café, an inclusive space which provides hospitality training and employment opportunities for people with disability.

Sages is run by the team at Wallara which is an innovative, sector-leading support service for adults with different abilities. Wallara seeks to drive social change through innovative partnerships that create opportunities for their clients to grow, explore and work.

Elements Eatery

Elements Eatery is an award-winning Rosebud café that offers an opportunity for locals and visitors to enjoy award-winning coffee, food and surrounds at the Yawa Aquatic Centre.

We love the Elements team for their focus on healthy eating, accessibility, inclusion, sustainability and community.

Roving Refills Frankston

Roving Refills Frankston operates as a mobile vendor that supplies bulk products to businesses looking to reduce their plastic waste. A perfectly sustainable and circular business that we just love to see and support!

Roving Refills was started to provide people with locally made, eco-friendly alternatives to highly packaged products that have travelled many miles and are not waterways-safe. To book a mobile refill or see where they are setting up shop, click here.

The Bays Maternity

Our collection from The Bays Hospital Maternity is a really special one. We collect their single-use maternity plastics, mainly made up of Sepal baby bottles and accessories, which are processed via our micro-recycling hub, ready for a new life.

They are the only private hospital in Victoria accredited by the World Health Organization’s Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI). This prestigious accreditation recognises our commitment to promoting and supporting breastfeeding through evidence-based practices that protect and nurture both mother and baby.

Peninsula Camera House

The team at Peninsula Camera House have been serving the photo and video community throughout the Mornington Peninsula and beyond since 1976.

They were our very first circular collections customer, donating used plastic film canisters, which are shredded and added to our HDPE resins and closed-loop products. They also stock a range of secondhand cameras for all levels of photographer - circularity across the board!

Our Commitment

Circular Peninsula implements circular solutions at a community level. We are committed to the circular economy's best practices, where products have life after consumption, materials never become waste, and nature is regenerated.

We are driven by the Sustainable Development Goals which provide a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.
